Konqueror printing locks up and consumes 99%

Suddenly when attempting to print in either Konqueror, or Kontact-Kmail using 
KDE3.2 and cups, (has been working) my system locks up, sometimes I can get 
kde system guard to start and notice that the app is consuming 99% of the 
cpu, with no printing.
I also noticed my fonts have suddenly changed, (they are more pleasant 
whatever they are) 
Anyone else have (done) this problem?
