KDE 3.1 - Poster Printing

I am looking forward to the poster printing in KDE 3.1.  I have tried to
install the application, but keep having problems with the installation,
and have decided to wait for its release in KDE 3.1.  

A few questions concerning poster printing.  With this application, will
you be able to:

1.  Print posters from other non-KDE applications (i.e. OpenOffice.org)?
2.  Print posters from GIMP?

The students use a digital camera, take a picture of themselves, modify
the picture, and then make it poster sized, and the teacher has posters
of everyone on the walls.  

Before this year, the teacher used StarOffice 6 in Windows.  Recently
the teacher installed Linux on a new partition, and has the option of
using StarOffice in Windows and OpenOffice in Linux.  This allows the
students to use the drawings and impress formats in both Windows and
Linux, and to move between computers.  

Will a student that takes a picture with the digital camera, and then
modifies it with OpenOffice be able to print this modified picture as a
poster?
