repository? Why have an own repository at all then? Why use git then after all?
That's not a reason but an excuse and a poor one on top of that.

Plus: This fix is likely to work as long as the bug stays this way so there'd
much likely be no trouble applying it to future versions of QT that carry this
bug. It's a no-brainer, really. Is the KDE board even aware of this issue and
how serious it and its implications are?
