Yeah, I don't see any reason either. The rest of his reasoning is also sound...
Now I have to find the KDE-Devel wishlist :-D If there's already a ticket
voting for this, please someone point us to that so we can vote, too...

Depends on your distribution. On Ubuntu it's just "apt-get source qt4-x11",
unpacking it, throwing the patch in the right directory, make a brief edit to 2
files, package the change via a single command and send it to your PPA on
launchpad via a single command... After that it's waiting for launchpad to
build the packages... When it's done, you can add your PPA as repository and
upgrade the packages via apt... dunno if Fedora has such facilities...
