Summary: print dialog redesign: make the printer detection easier
for the user
Product: kdeprint
Version: unspecified
Platform: SuSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kde-print-devel kde org
ReportedBy: bluedzins wp pl
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
I don't have printer and accidentally choosing the print dialog (or being forced to, javascript in html) is annoying.
I have something like this in mind...
Detection: Show only one dialog (not two, as now) __cancelable__, with some progress bar -- I opt for the print dialog with message "detecting printers" in status bar, no other "specialized" dialog.
Possible error (printer is missing): show a warning dialog, not an error, include "do not show this message" (I know I don't have printer so I don't have to see that all the time). Showing an error caused by javascript is too offensive I think.
In main print dialog, if there is no printer, show as printer "no printer" or something similar.
