I have SuSE 9.3 installed (default KDE + developer tools; not full install 
mind you) and it doesn't install scim by default.

It might be that you need scim, I don't know. What I can tell is that, without 
that qt plugin, kjobviewer doesn't crash. Thus I tend to believe the bug is 
in that library (though kjobviewer shouldn't crash nevertheless). More so 
since the crash is in the QScimInputContextGlobal::initialize() method (as 
the backtrace that you attached to the initial bug report shows).

Unfortunately, I don't have the time and resources to install a full suse-9.3 
just in order to test if I can reproduce the crash. I will write this down 
and attempt to reserve some time for it in the future.
