No new email notifications

Hi, I love KMail but for some reason I have stopped getting new email 
notifications. I originally was getting email notifications when I first started 
using KMail but for some reason I no longer receive them. I have the "show a 
message in a popup" box clicked under configure notifications I also have the 
"Detailed new mail notifications" box checked under, Configure KMail - receiving 
tab. Would appreciate any help.
