Disabling Akonadi

Sure, but you will have to uninstall a lot of KDE applications as well. If you 
tell your package manager to uninstall akonadi it will most likely tell you 
what other packages depend on it.

By the way, your message should have been sent to the kdepim-users mailing 
list instead of the KDE PIM development mailing list.
