what creates HTML from plain text mail

Since I receive company mails from M$-crap mail clients which produce completely illegal urls like 
file://someHost/shared/someFile.jpg<file:///\\someHost\shared\someFile.jpg>
I'd like to try some fiddling with this when it shall be displayed in the message viewer.
Which class does the formatting now ?
