Ghost messages I cannot get rid of

Hi,

I have some "ghost" messages and I can't find the "rebuild index" option in 
kmail (as per suggestions from Google). I can't finde the index files to 
delete them either. What can I do?

The messages show up as unread, but when you click on them, the body doesn't 
load. After clicking on them, you cannot read any other messages either 
because the bodies of other message do not load.

Kmail is version 5.4.2. Akonadi... I don't know -- How do I see the version of 
akonadi?
