Use of KEMailSettings

Can anybody tell me what the status of KEMailSettings (in KConfig framework) is 
these days? In KDE 4 days, one of its functions was to return the email 
address for the user which was set in System Settings. That function still 
exists "getSetting(KEMailSettings::EmailAddress)", but what does it now 
return? Should its use be deprecated in current code?

I note that it's still used in KOrganizer and accountwizard.
