What Fedora does is a purely downstream effort. The code was dead upstream for some time anyway, so Fedora is just keeping it alive a bit longer than upstream was willing to :) 

With my PIM hat on I do not want to maintain the KDE4 branches either, so +1 to killing the CI builds.
