  I don't see what QPointer will fix.
  If mFolderModel is not deleted, QPointer will not help us.
  
  And you add just Q_ASSERT so if it's not null it will assert... ok so where is the fix ?
   for me it's really not necessary as it will not fix mem leak (that you found).
