Well, reported as:

#793508 kmail: contacts gravatar.com to fetch face images of senders of opened 
mails by default

(specifically not to fingerpoint at anyone, just to make aware of the issue 
and thus give the Debian Qt/KDE team a chance to fix it either by uploaded KF5 
based KMail soonish or by uploading a fixed package).

May I ask in which KMail version Laurent added this? I wonder whether the 
Debian Sid or Debian Jessie packages are affected. I am using kmail from 
Debian Experimental.
