As a starting point, it would be great to compile kdepim, kdepimlibs, akonadi, 
and baloo from master. You'll need to setup a development environment. Please 
take a look at techbase for instructions on how to do so.

There are some simple tasks for Baloo on bugzille. Eg - [1]

Since you're interested in the "Enhanced Searching" project. I would recommend 
taking a look at the current search dialog and how it works. Maybe try 
modifying it a little bit and experimenting.
