I'm using kmail2 only since a few weeks, before I used kmail1 for a loooong time.
I have only POP3 accounts.

one BLOCKER which leads to data loss is:

mails do not have a body but only headers - even on disk.

As MAJOR I see the fact that kmail2 often displays duplicated mails

In general, this leads to distrust kmail2 in handling important data...
