[Kde-pim] KOrganizer: Support for Android (and others) style recurring event cancelling

Hello everyone,

currently KOrganizer only supports exceptions to events using EXDATE in
the corresponding event. Android on the other hand creates a VEVENT with
the same UID and a field STATUS:CANCELLED.

Recurring events where I have added an exception this way from Android
(Thunderbird Lightning also does it this way just for reference) are no
longer visible in KOrganizer, or more specifically: Only the first
exception found in the ics file is visible. This behaviour has been
reported in Bug 282591 in late 2011:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=282591 but there has not been a
response from the developers. Since I am updating my events mostly on my
mobile phones or my tablet these days this has become a major nuisance.

Are there plans to support this way of exception handling and where does
the actual problem reside? Is is only a display issue in the calendar
component or are changes needed in the underlying libraries? The way
things are I can no longer use KOrganizer for my calendar, as it is
quite useless if it doesn't show my recurring events. It would be OK if
it still showed the event and just ignored the cancelled ones (The
ownCloud web calendar does it this way, if a conflicting event is
present I can be quite sure that the recurring one is a cancelled one),
but showing only one exception is simply surprising and illogical.

Cheers
Philipp
