In order to test the effects of this setting, I strongly suggest you to disable 
the mail indexing for a while. This setting can only help with the MySQL 
performance.

If its mail indexing with Virtuoso slowing down your workload, this setting 
won´t help.

For me only the combination of all three settings I described work. I 
considered enabling mail indexing again, but I´d expect a serious performance 
hit by it.
