[Kde-pim] kontact via X11 forwarding

I recently upraded to 4.10.2 (from Debian experimental) from 4.4 (actually 
Wheezy's kde 4.8.4 + kdepim 4.4)

I used to launch kontact tunneling it in ssh session from the laptop to the 
desktop, and it used to work quite well.
I have a couple of IMAP accounts which gets the mail from the laptop itself, 
but since upgrading it's a kind of hit-and-miss; I bet a fair amount of the 
issues depends on the experimental packages, but before digging deeper, I 
would like to know if launching kontact from ssh is kind of supported and the 
proper way to do it. Currently it's a kind of dumb:
. .dbus/session-bus/$dbus_id-0
kontact

it used to work well on kdepim 4.4
has the akonadi migration changed this?
