Define akonadi. :)

The maildir resource watches the directory, the mixedmaildir does not.
That's one of the reason why on every maildir bugreport the first question 
is: what are you using, maildir or mixedmaildir (maildir + mbox, aka KMail1 
type dirs resource). Although they have common parts (the maildir library), 
they are also quite different
