Oh! This is also something we could really use (we are planning to look into 
plugging libfolks on top of Akonadi in order to facilitate contact merging,

Do you have some more information about the Person concept? What we would like 
to have is basically a way to represent several collections of contacts as one 
virtual collection that contains a merged addressbook, where the merging 
algorithm would preferably do sensible things automagically.

Removing/disabling a collection should remove its information from the merged 
addressbook, and adding a new one should enhance the merged addressbook, of 
course. In addition, it would be nice to have a manual (persistent) way of 
merging single contacts...
