This is indeed how the standards seem to suggest this should be handled. This
is also how Kolab will handle it in the future, see
http://wiki.kolab.org/KEP:3
Simply put: The exception gets a recurrence id which is mapped to the
date/time where the recurrence is NOT to occur, and then there is a subevent
with that ID that can re-define individual fields of that event to contain the
details of the change in recurrence, e.g. a new time and different room for the
meeting.
As we are looking at bringing KCalCore to the server as well as are using it
on the client, we're very interested in making sure it can handle this kind of
scenario well.
So any work you do on this is much appreciated, and if you want to work
together, please get in touch with either Christian Mollekopf and/or Jeroen
van Meeuwen, both of who are on this list, I believe.
