Thank you, that's it!

I had the exact same problem with auto-completion of recipient addresses in 
KMail. One day it didn't work anymore without doing any edits in KMail 
configuration.
I disenabled Nepomuk as I didn't see any use for it - reenabling it brought 
back auto-completion.
