[Kde-pim] Question on server-side search

Hello,

I'm one of the KDE Community Forums[1] administrators and I was recently 
compiling a list of common questions regarding searches in Kontact and KMail. 
Christian graciously answered most of them as they were related to the 
Akonadi-Nepomuk integration, but there is one single question that does not 
involve it that I would like to know. 

The question is: is server-side IMAP search supported? And if so, any 
particular reason why yes / no?

The purpose of all this is to provide users with a list (on the forums or KDE 
UserBase) of common questions to ease support on them.
