Thanks! This works exactly as I wanted. It also means I can get rid of the 
filtermodel all together (I think).

Out of curiosity, could the problem have been that I hadn't set an 
itemPopulationStrategy? Whatever the problem is with 
EntityMimeTypeFilterModel, it's very strange...
