UDPATE:  it may be the filter that is losing the message.  I had stopped the 
filter acting on incoming messages.  i sent this email to kdepim-users as well 
and they both arrived in my Inbox but when i applied the filter to move them 
to my KDEPIM folder, the email to kdepim-users vanished.
