[Kde-pim] Search for unread messages return read messages

On my kmail2 Gmail account (disconnected imap) I ran a search for "Status = 
Unread) - it returned 503 messages, of which only 33 where unread?

Would this be a bug? or am I missing something? the messages in question were 
long ago sync'd with gmail.
