I've got a test case of a pair of Dells running Fedora 15, one (an 
upgrade from Fedora 13) doesn't work with the configuration used 
in Kubuntu 10.04. The other (a clean install) with a wizard created 
configuration does work. Hopefully, I'll be able to discern the 
significant difference soon.

Working it out is slow because the clean install has stopped sound 
and plasma-desktop is using 98% of the CPU.
