As you say, Debian based.  It could affect others, I agree.  As you remarked 
in comment #4, my userbase comment was a workaround - IIRC I said so at the 
time.  However, it's about a month since the developer backported some 
improvements and I think it was at the same time that bug-fixes were 
introduced.  It sounds as though Debian and possibly some other distros 
decided against including the backports.
