Your "because it is wrong" made me curious and so I started to read a bit. I 
cannot really say that I did "understand" what I read but I'd like to know if 
I'm mistaken (and when why) when I say it rather had be

because of what I read here [1] and [2] here if the filename stays there 
because of other mua.

And I also had the problem that I always had to defend my usage of signatures 
to Outlook users because of that stupid dat-files appearing that could be 
suspected to be viruses. I even failed when I told them to open that dat-file 
in a text editor so that they could see what it was

me: Hm, safe it to a temporary file "signature.txt" and open it with notepad
them: but then I got this virus. This is to dangerous!
me: No, it's only a text editor. It won't execute anything!
them: ???????????
me: sigh

And I cannot even tell them exactly how to do what I ask them to because I 
never used Outlook.
