The message by Bruno Virlet 2008-03-22 22:55:06 -------
indicates that this change should be in the currently KDEPIM currently
released with KDE 4.2. You could try one of the available live-CDs and see.
Checking the SVN via http://websvn.kde.org/ is no rocket science,
though I agree that it is a bit tedious. Maybe you'll find someone on IRC
which has a few minutes to help you track this change.

The switch to akonadi is basically a major refactoring that takes significant
resources. This is why it was ongoing for while and not really postponed as
it wasn't clear if it could be finished and when. On the last KDEPIM meeting
in Osnabrück this spring the undertaking got a boost when the
Kolab-Konsortium members Intevation (my company) and KDAB announced they will
help to build an akonadi prototype for Kontact.
