Hm... have you noticed that selecting a folder with middle click opens
it in a new tab (unless that folder is already open in some tab) ?

This actually means that you can keep the folder open and preserve
your thread/group state even while looking at other folders.

This also saves folder opening time (which may be a lot for large folders)
and preserves the message "new" state.
