Avoiding updating the message is not a solution here, since there are cases
where this can't be done, e.g. by a filter which modifies the message. So this
would not fix the real problem.
But I agree that this would be useful, and hopefully something the Akonadi
filtering system will do. What I also would like is not downloading the whole
message when it is not necessary, for example when a filter only needs the
subject from the header.
