Well, I never experienced the problem, and you asked for a solution, so... ;-)

Sure, this should be fixed if users would have to suffer from it for a
long time, but the whole internals of KDE-PIM are being gutted out and
morphed into aKonadi - due to the changes, I suspect it's rather
unlikely it will suffer from the same issues (though undoubtedly from
others). In other words, tnx for reporting it, I hope my solution
works for you, and be sure to check and test KDE-PIM 4.1 with aKonadi
for similar issues - they'll get far more attention.
