I've now tested with both.  A priori, since the changes affect the connection 
establishment error recovery before a sync begins, it should not have 
different effects on dimap.  

Nevertheless, I've tested the case where the server's connection encryption 
changes during a sync operation (dimap sync, stop server, change tls->ssl, 
start server, dimap sync) and this works, it seems to be the same as the 
existing loss of connectivity during sync case - with the difference that you 
can now reconfigure the account to match the server without killing kmail, 
losing your local changes.
