[Kde-pim] EHLO when sending mail

Hi,

One of the outstanding bugreports for mailtransport is "Bug 69828: kmail: doesnt send fake hostname during check for server support"(1)

In the smtp settings you can enter an alternate hostname which should be sent after the EHLO command. As that does not seem to work I want to fix that. But I vaguely recall a statement from Ingo that it is time to remove that option, but I can not recall where or when I read or heard that at all, not even sure it was this subject ;-)

So, what's the prefered way to tackle this?
1) remove the setting and rely on fetching that info from the local machine (what to do if it is invalid?)
2) keep it and honor it in kio_smtp and the server test.

Also, I don't mind of someone else is interested in fixing this. Sam or Manish maybe?

gr.

Toma
