Good guess, but not correct I believe:

First, I am not sending this attachment, I am receiving it, and the sender 
does not use KMail. The headers does not state client, but I think it is sent 
directly from a bank-system/bank-programme as this is actually my payslip 
from my work.

Second, the headers state that it should be 64-bit:
Content-Type: application/pdf;
  name="K0000P0000231.pdf"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Disposition: attachment;
        filename="K0000P0000231.pdf"


KMail also identifies the attachment correctly as a pdf file.
