[Kde-pim] Contacts, categories and Distribution lists

Using KAddressbook 3.5.6 on Kubuntu 7.10

Firstly, how do Categories work? I can edit the list, assign a category to a 
contact, but can't seem to do ANYTHING else with categories. I can't seem 
display contacts in a particular category using the filter as the categories 
I have added don't appear in the drop-down list. I can't add the category 
field to a table view as the Categories field doesn't appear in the field 
chooser dialog box.
So what is the point of categories?

Secondly, as the Categories don't seem to do anything, I want to make 
Distribution Lists.
However, when I click on "New Distribution List" NOTHING happens. At ALL.

Can someone help me with all this?
