I did this but knode still comes up although it does not show up on the ps list
after it shows up on the desktop.

I'm going to try exiting kde without saving the session and see if knode does
not reappear.

I tried toggling the 'restore session' flag in the kde session logout box but
it had no effect: knode comes up at kdestart no matter what I do.
