Thats not entirely true. There is work going on to make it native. However, 
this is quite a bit more work than just a couple of #ifdef's. For example 
the system of our loadable components has to be changed, because it relies 
on ELF semantics which do not exist on OSX. This work is currently done in 
our development tree which will become KDE 3.2. Furthermore KDE consists of 
several platform specific parts that expect X11. These have to be rewritten 
for OSX.

I don't know if they already provide a fully patched KDE that will work on 
OSX. I'm sure they need more help though.
