rosa uses gstreamer for kde thumbnailing
i assume gstreamer uses ffmpeg

it seems it's a general pb :

- Romp (rosa multimedia app) uses mplayer : same pb , views in landscape
instead of portrait
- vlc same pb, views in landscape instead of portrait
- totem uses gstreamer : same pb , views in landscape instead of portrait
- picasaweb uses flashplayer : no pb

perhaps there is a tag in mp4 file about portrait/landscape mode as in photo
file .
