Hardware: Dell Inspiron E1505 / 6400

In KDE 3.5.10, the hardware audio buttons (Mute, Volume Up, Volume Down,
Play/Pause, RW, FF, Stop) all work fine. In a KDE 4.1, only the Mute button
works.

I thought that this was a distro issue (Kubuntu), but on the Kubuntu bugtracker
the devs decided that I must file upstream. Here is the Kubuntu bug:
