I notice that you still don't have debug output, can you start artsd from a terminal like:
	artsd -F 10 -S 4096 -s 60 -m artsmessage -c drkonqi -l 0 -f

The "-l 0" should enable the debug output.

That you hit the assert on the connect is interesting indeed. Hopefully the debug output will be able to shed a bit of light on what is going on.
