I am in the same situation (Via 8235, SuSE 9.0, KDE 3.2.0) and disabling
DSX had the same effect.

Juk crashed without DSX disabled and produced the following stack trace:

This is solved now. However, I also have no system notification sound
and kmix still crashes on exit:
