I encountered a problem playing mp3 files with juk, noatun, kaboodle, amarok, artsplay and mpeglibartsplay. The playback sounds strange since I upgraded from KDE 3.2.1 to 3.2.2. I think the reason must be _mpeglib_ or _libarts-mpeglib_: xmms, xine/kaffeine and alsaplayer play these mp3s without problem and converting files to ogg solves the problem too.
The problem is also mentioned in a debian list:
