hmm, these --enable-debug or not doesn't sound meaningfull to me since my stable 
build is built all without debug and my cvs has debug enabled... 
 
Perhaps you could look if it still happens when all is compiled without debug??? 
 
Thanks for investing so much time into this, me thinks its not long until you can read 
and understand the code better then me;-)
