Error Compiling kdemultimedia (KDE_3_1_BRANCH)

Changing the configure line to 
./configure --enable-final --with-xinerama 
results in a successful compile. I guess ALSA isn't installed properly on my 
system?
$ rpm -qa|grep alsa
alsa-lib-0.9.0-fr0rc6.1
Is that not sufficient?
