And there's also ecasound. It's a stable, working application for
multitrack recording and mixing written in C++, with a ready, documented
API for building user-interfaces (the ECI API, available in C, C++ and
python), long history of active development, and with support for aRts
(through the C API), ALSA, JACK, LADSPA v1.1 among other things...
There's already a few Qt apps that are built on top of it (ecamegapedal
