Thanks for this help Stephen. I also tried to talk to some locals but  
none of the options they gave me actually resulted in something.

So, with this in hands I think the best to do is to use the safe  
alternative and go to Berlin. From those that expressed their opinions  
on the wiki it seems that this is easier for most of the people too.  
Berlin it is then! :)

I put a lot of information on the wiki like the address of three  
hostels near KDAB's office and I think that people can already book  
their flights and do their reservations on the hostels. We can use  
this list or the wiki to organize and share rooms in the hostel if you  
would like so.

Just a reminder that the expenses should be handled by yourself and  
then you do the regular reimbursement request for the eV, saying that  
it was for the mobile sprint.

Great! I can't wait to meet everybody there...we have some hot topics  
to discuss :)
