Yes indeed this is a known problem and a maemo specific issue. Nothing we can 
do about. Tobias did report it upstream 
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11640 already. On WinCE opening the 
document just works.
Also there is another issue with maemo. All files that are installed 
in /usr/share/doc are removed instantly by a daemon called docpurge ... I 
really don't know why anybody ever would and should do such stuff 
automatically ...
